The holidays are upon us! It's time for cozy gatherings, delicious food, and making memories with loved ones. But before the festivities begin, let's talk about getting your home holiday-ready. We're starting with Thanksgiving, a day centered around the heart of the home – the kitchen! Here's how to declutter and organize to make Thanksgiving prep a breeze:
1. Kitchen Clean-Up
- Sort and Purge: Take everything out of your kitchen cabinets and drawers. Donate or discard anything you don't use, duplicates, or items past their prime. (Okay, so maybe not everyhing, but definitely the most used cupboards and drawers.)
- Streamline Servingware: Do you really need three gravy boats? Probably not. Keep your favorite serving dishes and donate the rest.
- Pantry Power-Up: Check expiration dates on all pantry items. Toss anything expired and organize the rest, grouping similar items together. My grand daughter loves to organize the pantry and I love that she does a great job. Delegate the sorting if you can.
2. Food Storage Solutions
- Fridge Refresh: Clean out your refrigerator to make space for Thanksgiving ingredients. Create a designated "Thanksgiving leftovers" shelf.
- Freezer Finds: Organize your freezer to easily store prepped meals or leftovers.
3. Guest-Ready Spaces
- Entryway Edit: Clear out your entryway or mudroom to make space for guests' coats and shoes.
- Guest Room Glow-Up: Declutter and clean your guest room. Provide fresh linens, towels, and a cozy atmosphere.
- Living Room Lift: Tidy up your living room, removing unnecessary clutter and creating a welcoming space for guests to relax.
Bonus Tip: Don't forget about the bathroom! Stock it with plenty of hand soap, toilet paper, and fresh towels.
By tackling these decluttering tasks now, you'll create a more organized and enjoyable Thanksgiving experience. Plus, you'll be well on your way to a stress-free holiday season!
